PROPOSED "ROYAL" SHOW.

The idea of instituting "Royal" Agricultural Slhows in New Zealand has much to recommend it. These shows are intended to bring together the pick of the stock exhibited at all tihe subsidiary shows, and to offer prizes which -will induce competition from all parts of the Dominion. There can be rto doubt that such shows would improve the standard of breeding, and create a feeling of emulation aimong stock-owners. A "Royal Show," .subsidised by the Government, imigtbt with advantage be held alternately an the North and South Islands. The Comimittee of existing shows have a night, however, to consider how far a Royal Show would affect the status of their annual gatherings.
