UNITED STATES AND GANADA.

PROGRESS OF THE BILL.

Received This Morning, 1.0 o'>olock.)

WASHINGTON, June 9

All amendments to the Reciprocity Bill, except Mr Root's printing-paper provision, have been rejected by the Senate's Finance Committee by narrow majorities. Tlie House of Representatives' offer of a Democratic Free List -Bill as an amendment was rejected without a division.

Mr itoot's amendment was adopted by eighit to six. The Bill will be reported to the Senate probably on Tuesday. OTTAWA, June 9. Opinion inclines to the belief that Canada will undertake to meet the objection of Mr Root's amendment, as the printing paper in the schedule was not a material part of the agreement.
