Wairarapa Age MORNING DAILY. THURSDAY, JUNE 8, 1911. A WINTER SHOW.

The National Dairy Association has held winter .shows at Balimerston North for several years past. The ! staff connected with the Department of Agriculture has. regularly attended these, and by this time no doubt they hare imparted a lot of useful information to farmers in + he favoured Manawatu district, is it not time ,the National Dairy Association took stops to give similar instruction, with the aid of the Govern/merit experts', in other dairying "centres? For years *he Wairarapa Cooperative Companies have loyally supported the National Dairy Association, and isome, return should he made to farmers of this district. It is not at all necesary, nor •■ is it desirable, that a show which, costs the country a considerable sum of money should be stationary. ■ A peripatetic show would be far more beneficial to the community at large. The Masterton A. and P. Association have now very convenient grounds for a gathering of dairy farmeris, and a cheese and butter exhibition in the winter months at Sol/way would prove. of great benefit to tjie [farmers of Wairarapa. It may be iafeen for granted that the Committee of the A. and P. Association would do their best to make .such a gathering j a success, as the improvement of the conditions of farming is the primary object of its existence. The Wairarapa is not ex-olusively devoted to the breeding of sheep and cattle. It is really the .home of the co-oper-ative system of dairying. Why, then, should something not be done by the A. and P. Associations of the district, with the assistance of the National Dairy Association, to stimulate the industry?
