MASTERTON FIRE BRIGADE.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Masterton Fire Brigade was held last evening, Supt. Jenkins presiding over a large attendance of members. Apologies were received from Firemen F. Cole and Hubbard. Mr E. G McEwen wrote on behalf of the Veterans' Association, suggesting that the Veterans bo affiliated as a branch of the Fire Brigade. Tho matter was referred to a Committee to report on at a future meeting.

The Social Committee recommended holding a progressive euchre party at a date to be arranged, which was agreed to.

Several members of the Brigade commented on the unsatisfactory ringing of the central firebell. The Superintendent intimated that he had referred the matter to the Board. The nomination of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: Senior Foreman, B. Braggins; Junior Foreman, E. Jenkins, F. Cole; Secretary, E. Pragnell; Assistant Driver, S. Dixon; Branchmen, H. Selby, W. Blinkhorne, H. Moore, B. Morris, C. Cole, Murphy, W. Richards, F. Cole, W. Clark?, S. Dixon; Hyclrantmen, A. K. Johnston, J. Kite, E. Hubbard, E. Pragnell; Auditor, J. Prentice, A. K. Johnston, B. Gardner. Messrs .7 A. Swanson and Geo. Olliver were elected honorary members of the Brigade;

Hydrantman Johnston presented tho Brigade with a neatly framed photo of the delegates attending the late Hokitika Fire Brigade Conference.

Supt. Jenkins also presented the Brigade with a framed photo of the representative team that attended the Hokitika. Competitions. Both donors were accorded hearty votes of thanks for their spontaneous gifts.
