TECHNICAL WOOL CLASSES.
IN THE MASTERTON DISTRICT.
Much interest is being manifested by young settlers and others in the Masterton district in the wool classes which a.re being conducted by Mr E. T. Lees. Classes are now held regularly at Tinui, Bideford, Te Whairau, Gladstone, and Masterton. The attendance is highly satisfactory, and considerable enthusiasm is being .displayed in the work of the classes. Ma- Lees not only tenders instruction in the classing of wools—itself an important branch of pastoral education— but deals in detail with 'the structure of fibre, the growth of wool, and the effect upon the fleece of pastures and climatic conditions. The Wellington Woollen Manufacturing Company has very v generously placed at the disposal of the school the wool required for deanonstration purposes. Arrangements are being made for the supply of isamples of wool in its various stages, from the sheep's back to the manufactured article.
The next class at Masterton is to be held on Monday, sth June, and at Te Wharau on Monday, 12th June.
