HOCKEY.
WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION. A .meeting of the General Committee of the Wairarapa Hockey Association was held in the Age buildings last night, there being present— Messrs J. Prior, S. Hunter, Rev. W. Raine, A. J. Fisher, and C. White. Applications for reinstatement as juniors of W. Parker, G. Wallis and B. Morris were granted. A protest was received from the DaleiicJd Club, objecting to the decision of the referee in the junior match Daleiie'ld v. Martin-borough. The Martinborough Club also wrote opposing the protest.— It was decided to refer the correspondence to the referee for a reoort.
A letter was received from the New Zealand Hockey Association forwarding the fixtures of the matches for the first round for the Nordon Cup, which were as follow: Waikato v. Thames, Taranaki v. Wanganui, Poverty Bay v. Wairarapa, Manawatu v. Horowhenua, Nelson v. Marlborough, West Coast v. Buller, Southland a bye.— It was decided to write to the Poverty Bay Association s' gges-t-ing that the match be j iayod a<- Hastings on June 22nd. The Wairarapa P. and A. Sociei ; wrote,, agreeing to allow the Associ." - tion the use of the.Showgrounds r* Carterton, subject to the same conditions as last year, if arrangements could be made with the.Rugby Union.— The secretary was instructed to write to the Rugby Union to make a satisfactory agreement.
The New Zealand Hockey Referees' Association wrote asking that the Wairarapa Referees' Association join the New Zealand Association, and stating that the subscription was 10s 6d.— It was decided to affiliate.
The Dalefield Club asked permission to play the Wellington juniors on June. 3rd.— Permission was granted subject to the manager's name, and the time and the place of the match being forwarded to the Association.
The late Knox Hockey Club forwarded £3 5s 6d, being their surplus, for the improvement of the dressing .shed at Lansdowne, and their jerseys for handing to some junior team.— A vote of thanks was accorded to the Knox Club, and the offer was accepted. It was decided that all Club property he insured. It was decided to prohibit players from practising on Nos. 1 and 2 gßounds at Lansdowne.
