THE EKETAHUNA SCHOOL.
APPLICATION TO BE MADE FDR GRANT. FOR DISTRICT HIGH JsCHOOL. A numerously-signed petition was presented itto the Wellington Education Board] yesterday, protesting against tdie ol.d jschool building being removed to the jiew site, and asking that steps be taken to .secure.a grant for a new school. It was also pointed but that a .sufficient number of pupfils had been secured for the establishment of a District High School.
A report of a recent visit to Eketalrana by Messrs Hogg and Vile, members of the Board, was also read. The secretary stated that sixteen of the names sent in as .pupils for the High School had beeai certified to.
The chairman stated-- tilia't, while the Board could not "recommend a grant (for a new primary school when its old school building was good enough for some years to come, there was no reason why application should not be made for a grant for a District High School. 'Messrs Hogg, Vile and Buchanan strongly urged the claims of Eketaliuna to better educational facilities, and it was eventually decided" that application, be made to the Government for a grant sufficient to establish a District High School in Eketahuna.
