FANATICAL FIGHTING

TANGIER, May 29
An Englishman accompanying the Moorish forces under Cap.tain. Elroerase, wMoh are half way between Fez and Rabat, writes that the rebels liemmed in a column, whose cavalry detachments were twice' defeated. TJhe Mountaineers have raised a holy war, and are fighting with fanatical fury, owing to the presence of five French officers and correspondents in the column.
PARIS, May 29. The "Le Matin" states that Mulai Hafid conferred with General Monier. The Sultan does not wish the French to leave Fez. .He intends accompanying them if they return to the coast. He lias asked for the establishment of a French Protectorate.
