WAIRARAPA CALEDONIAN SOCIETY
SPECIAL MEETING OF DIRECTORS. A special meeting of Directors of the Wairarapa Caledonian Society was.-held in .the Dominion Hall, Mastenton, on Saturday last,, for the purpose;of electing chairmen for the several sub-committees appointed at tlhe last monthly meeting, aond transacting general business. There were present— Messrs Alex. McLeod (chairman), J. B. McKonzfie, J. H. Pauling, G. R. Sykes, -E. H. Waddington, Robt. McKenzie, J. Georgeson, T. G. Hoar, E. E. Ohawiberlain, Thos. Wyetth, D. MtcJjacMan, Gordon Stewart, and Geo. McHattie. The following gentlemen wereunan.:-, imou sly elected chairmen of the* vari r ous Committees: — Mr Robert .M<£ Kenzie, .Finance Committee,;*, Mrs- J.*' Georgeson, iProgramme Committee; Mr J. H. Pauling, Pipe Band; Mr Alex. McLeod, Protest Committee; Mr E. J3. Waddington, Concert and Ingleside Committee. The President explained the terms and eondiitions arranged by himself and Mr Pauling in respect to' the appointment of Mr W. Pearson, of Carterton, to the office of Pipe jor. Otn the motion of Mr J. B. Mo- ■' ' * Kenzie, seconded by Mr Georgetson, the action of the President and VicePresident /was confirmed, and Mt W. Pearson was duly appointed Pipe Major. It was. decided, on the motion of Mr McHattie, seconded by Mi* J. B. McKenzie, that all matters in connection with the Pipe Band referred: to the Pipe Band Comniittee, with full oower to act.
Correspondence was received from the secretary of the Hospital Ball Committee, thanking the Society for generously offering to forego its booking of tlie Brill Hall for Coronation night in flavour of the Ball Committee, and stating that as it had been decided to postpone the Hospital Ball until tli>e 6th July, the committee would not now require to. avail itself of the obligation. It was therefore unanimously decided tliajt the Ingle--side be held on the date originally fixed, viz., Coronation night, Thursday, 22nd June, in the Drill Hall. At 7.30 p.m. the Pipe Band Committee met, and adopted a complete set of rules suitable for the working of the Band. A number of pipers attended, and the rules as adopted weere read out seriatum, and were very favourably commented on by those present. Mr Walter Sutherland was appointed Sergeant, and all those present were duly enrolled members. It was decided that the first practice be held in the Dominl ion Hall on Tuesday (to-morrow) j nighlt, at 7.30, when the Pipe. Major (Mr W. Pearson) will be in attend- ! a.nce.
