SERIOUS ACCIDENT.
®M WABTERTON-CARTERTON ROAD* I A somewhat serious accident oc- ! curred on the road between Master- j ton and Carterton last evening. A... man named, William ;> Wilkersori, a. j life insurance representative Who re- j •eea±ly arrived from Pefone, was! wining to Masterton on a- motor \ cycle. When approaeliing a culvert half way- across the Harataha ; Plain.,, '■lie-met one of Pinhey Bros.' drags, wnadh, was taking a party of Mastertqnians to a dance at Parkvale. Wilkesnson was in tlie adt of dismounting from his cycle, whan ho got under the feet of the .horses attached to;the drag, and the vehicle passed over him. It was at once seen that he was badly injured. A j messenger was despatched for Dr. Cowie, of Masterton, who proceeded j to the scene of the accident in his . motor car. The injured mian was brought to his home in Masterton, . wfhere it was discovered tOiat he toad j sustained severe contusions about ih& body, two broken ribs, and more.l or less serious injuries to his head. TJhe wounds were dressed by Dr Cowie, and enquiries made late last nigh* stowed that the man was progressing 'as favourably as could be expected.
