THE VANCOUVER SERVICE.

United Press Association—By Electr/"-! Telegraph—Copyriehl.

(Received May 24, 10.-'i a.ro.)

MELBOURNE, May 24J. • The Hun. W. M. Hughes, AttorneyGeneral, ciscussing Mr Holman's suggestion regarding the Vancouver service, declared that it was infinitely preferable for the Commonwealth to do these, things. There were no insuperable difficulties in the way of arranging such a service as Mr Holman desires to see. Upon the satisfactory settlement of the American-Canadian reciprocity question a shipping scheme would follow, and naturally the only obstacle to the Commonwealth subsidy—a service touching New Zealand —would then be removed.
