MASTERTON DOG TRIALS.
OPENING DAY. The .ninth annual dog trials undee the auspices, of tile Masterton Collie dub open on tihe property of Mr, Walter Cameron, at Te.Ote Ore, ttn day, and will be continued to-mor-row and completed on Saturday; morning. No fewer then seventy-* seven" entries have been received ini the four classes. These embrace some of the best dogs in the North Island, including <same of the wtiairiing dogs at the recent Martinboroughj Trials. The first competitaon to-day will be in "heading, bringing back] and holding." In this class, for which, the first prize is £7, there are no fewer than twesty-three oomipeta-* tors. The judge is Mr Gordois Grant, of Porangahau. For the convenience of those who wish to- see the trials, Messrs Pinhey Bros/drag, will leave the Post Office conreifi at 1.30. o'clock this afternoon. Aifternobn tea wiill be provided by the Collie Grub. The trials are being run under the auspices of the Nortlb Island Dog Trial Association, with' v/hidk the Club is aißliated.
