PAIiMERSTON N., Last Night. Mr W.-.H. Herries, M.P., addressed a well-attended meeting to-night, and outlined the Opposition policy. Hte advocated the elective appointraent of the Upper House; a Civil Service Board to deal with appointments and promotions; and the appointment of a Railway Oommiissionen On tttie land question hie said the Opposition policy was one of small freehold holdings, though iflie pastoral runs and bacfcModks land® would have to remain. On the Native land question, he advocated the placing of these on an individual injstead; of a oomftnunis#c basi»j and he also advocated giving educated Maori® equal rights and privileges with Europeans. A vote of thanks to Mrj Herries, and confidence in the Opposition, was carried.
