DISTRICT NEWS.

(From Our Own Correspondents.)

KAIPARORO.

Tlie weather throughout the past week has been decidedly wintry— a bitterly cold southerly, accompanied by heavy showers of rain lias prevailed, and still there a>re no signs of any improvement in climatic conditions. . There is an abundance of feed, but the cold litas caused a rapid decrease in tlie milk supply, and tlie cheese factory is now working only every second day. This month will probably see the. end of the milking season. The Usual fortnightly dance was held on Saturday last, and in spite of unpropitious weather there was a very fair attendance. CARTERTON. Th© schedule for the annual show of tlie South Wairarapa Poultry Association is now being .printed, and should be ready for distribution early next week. In addition to tlie challenge cup-, there will be a number of special prizes. At Greytown on Sunday, the Boy Sooutsi of the Wairarapa Battalion assembled: and attended church parade at »9t. Luke's. After .tlie service the Scouts marched to tlie Greytown Cemetery, where the District Chaplain, Rev. A. T. B. Page, conducted' an impressive ceremony, and placed, on behalf of the Stratford Scouts, a wreath on tire grave of tihe late Scout ' Corporal Ebgers, recently drowned in the Wairarapa Lake. On Monday morning the Carterton branch of tlie Wairarapa Egg Circle sent a rurtiher consignment of eggs to tlie market.

A isimiaill error crept into my report of Mr F. Stempa's meat display, published yesterday. Tlie heifer, which turned the scales at 800 Ibis, was reported as- 26 years old, whereas the word, "years" should have read "months."
