EMPIRE DAY.
To-anorrow will ibe Empine Day. As such, it -will revive nuamx>rae& of one of tihe greatest Monarchis, who ever occupied a throne^—the late, lamented Queen Victoria, "vvihlbise birthday it is. vFirom a holiday point of view, it will ibe a tfanoa. Tib© Government had no right to pax>cjnim it a holiday in. the "first instance. The country 'had too imiany excuses for 'lndolence already, and /to keep on piling them up was to ■offer a premium to national bankruptcy and individual decay. Empire 'Day is already dying a national death, and it is out of no disrespect to the memory of a noble Queen that one ventures the hope that it will soon ho' decently interred.
