SADLER FOUND CbILTY OF MANSLAUGHTER. APPLICATION FOB, A NEW , TRIAL. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURGH, Last Night. The trial of Walter Richard.. Sadler,'. charged with the murder of Ethel May Bradley on or about Tuesr diay, February 7±h, at Chriistehurch, was oo.nfcin.ued at the Supreme Court to-day. . . ; Counsel for the accused did not call evidence. The whole of the morning was occupied with lengthy addresses ,by counsel. Hi® Honour, in summing up, said a verdict of manslaughter iwas the only one the jury were asked to finid.' They must he satisfied beyond all reasonable doubt that the • prussic add had been administered to the deceased;'that it had inot been adtmin- i istered rto her before entering the shqp, and, if adtministred in the shop, that it wasi beyond the shadow of doubt part of an illegal act on the part of Sadler. If they were not satisfied on this point, the case for the Crowa must fail. After one hour's retirement, the jury found Sadler guilty of manslaughter, with a strong recommendation to ime®cy.
An application for leave to apply to the Court of Appeal for a new trial was granted, the question of hail being held over fbr a day.
