A sensation was caused at the Viterbo trial by Abattemaggio suddenly ly declaring that neither Ibello nor Giro Erricones (the brother who died in prison) was connected with the organisation which was responsible for the Cuocolo murders. . The declaration, led to a storm of comment among counsel. Erricones passionately appealed for justice for his dead brother's memory.
