Mr Baillieu, of Victoria, interviewed, eulogised the emigration work of Mr Willis, who is returning to Victoria. " Applications during the latter's term of office represent 4100, possessing £256,000, of whom 2435, with a capital of £192,000, have sailed or booked passages. Mr Baillieu looks forward to rapidly increasing the volume of new settlers. It will he necessary to organise, I spend money in effectively advertising I and secure more shipping accommodation.
Personally, Mr Baillieu thinks it unnecessary to insist on taking people" with capital. If land is made available on easy terms every healthy man adds prosperity to the country.
