MEXICO CITY, May 17

Judge Carbajal, representing the | Federals has announced that a general armistice is probable in twenty-four hours. Madero, discussing peace prospects, said he was preparing for war. He said the attack on Chihuahua was the next step and Mexico City the goal, all towns between falling inevitably into his hands. He is hoping for peace and trusting that his adversaries will recognise the futility of opposition without more bloodshed.
