The Rev. J. T. Phillips, of Tenui, kas tendered his resignation to the Anglican Diocesan Synod, and will leave for England with his infant son in October next. Mr A. Buchanan, the well-known Jersey breeder of Palmerston North, has just returned from a visit to Australia, and is much impressed with the evidence of prosperity in the Commonwealth. Mr John Hessey returns to Masterton from the South this morning. Colonels E, J. Collins. W. A. Day and A. H. Russell, LieutenantColonel R. Logan and Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel H. Boscawen have been appointed honorary aides-de-camps to the Governor. An interesting wedding ceremony was. performed at the. residence of Mr, Devonport, Columba Road, Masterton, on Wednesday, when Mr Harry Wenham was united +-■> Miss Mina Donald, of Fnrtona, County Tyrone. Ireland. The ceremony was performed by tho Rev. A. T. Thompson, 8.A., B.D. Miss Myrtle Devonport acted as bridesmaid, and Mr H. E. Braggins as best man. The bride was given away by Mr Levi Devonport. A number of very pretty and useful presents were received by the young couple. A pretty wedding was celebrated in St. Mark's Church, Carterton. on Wednesday, by the Rev. R. Young, when Miss Annie Elizabeth Johnson, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs A. Johnson, of Parkvale, was married to Mr Arthur Teal, third son of the late Mr John Teal, of Carterton. The 'M-ifV- was becomingly attired in a frock of creme de chene, trimmed with silk insertion and pearls. A Melbourne cable announces the death of Mr T. . Glass, member for Bendigo East in the Victorian State Assembly. One of the passengers who arrived bv the Tonic on Wednesday was the Hon. R. Adderley, a young Englishman ;, who has come out to study colonial methods of farming.

Mr J. B. Hareonrt. President of the Wellington Racing Clnb, was taken ill at his residence on Fridnv with septic poisoning, and his condition gave his relatives and friends anxiety until Tuesday. Since the™ his health has inmroved, but it avi'll be some time yet before he u-ill be well enough to resume business.
