THE PORK INDUSTRY.
There is more in. the pork industry than the 'farmers of 'New Zealand seem to realise. Speaking at the Royal Show in Sydney a week or two ihaok, Mr James Dunlop, a member of the Scottish Agricultural Commission, said .that owing to" the shortage in America of recent years, prices now rule in the Old Country such as werei previously unknown to the oldest inhabitant. "We look to Australia and New Zealand to supply the deficiency in our nationial larder above what we can /make for ourselves. An excellent chance exists for Australia to step in audi secure a trade worth several million pounds annually. While in New' Zealand I met special representatives from the Old Country -of some of our biggest houses which handle bacon, etc., who wer,e prepared to give a high price for several years .to come. You can get a bigger profit from pigs than from cattle," conducted Mr Dunlop, "and, it will fee a pity if such an excellent chance is lost."
