PROPOSED HOSPITAL BALL.
AN ENTHUSIASTIC MEETING.
A well-attended and enthusiastic meeting was held in the Mastertor. Borough Council Chambers yesterday afternoon for the purpose of organising a Hospital Ball in aid of a fund to provide. an X-ray apparatus for the Masterton Hospital. About twenty ladies and a number of gentlemen were present.
Mr J. B. Keith, who occupied the chair, explained the object of the meeting, stating .that it was oilly right that the .public should assist in such a matter.
Dr Cook stated that he thought a ball might be held, and a children's fancy dress iball on the following night. Dr Cook added that several things were needled at the Hospital, owing to the present apparatus being out of date. Mr Keith moved that the ladies present be appointed a committee to arrange the details in connection with a Hospital Ball. Mr Eton seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously. Mr N. D. Bunting was appointed secretary of the committee. It was decided that a ball !»e held on Coronation night (June 22nd), with a children's fancy dress ball on the following nigliit and it was resolved to. appoint four committees to arrange the different details. Mr Keith was appointed .chairman of the general committee. The prices for the tickets were fixed as follow:—Double, 7s 6d; si» gle, ss; extra lady, 3s; second night lis per head. On the motion of Mr Robinson, it was decided to award prizes for the best girl's and boy'.s costume an the second night. The Matron suggested holding a waltzing competition for the children, but the matter was left for the committee to deal with.
