Morrison (Unionist) for the Not-, tingham East seat for alleged treating and bribery, there was produced a long procession of witnesses who boasted of being liars in the statements originally made with a view to having the petition lodged, which statements they now 'deny. PAYMENT OF MEMBERS. (Received May 16, 9.5 a.m.) LONDON, May 15. The views of Liberals regarding the payment of members are diverse. Some members favour the view that salaries should only be paid to those requiring them, and others consider £l5O or £2OO enough, i Mr J. J Ward, Labour M.P. for Stoke-on-Trent, says that nothing less than £4OO per annum would do. (Unionist, members of the House of Commons Is-" • ;ilrc-a;lv decided to oppose tho Payment of Membes Bill which the Government is shortly to introduce, making provision for salaries of £4OO per annum for members of Parliament.) ,
