HOSPITAL COMMITTEE.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of "the Masterton Hospital Committee "was held in the Masterton Hospital at the conclusion of 'the meet&ng of the Charitable Aid Committee's meeting yesterday morning* There were present — Messrs W. j .Fisher (in the chair), Murray J. H. Jiaokson, D. J. Cameron, H. O'Leary and Jas. Miller. Tire Treasurer's import was a® follows [Receipts: Balance from last -meeting £lsl -I.s 6d, patients fees £75 5s 9d, subscriptions and donations £5 17s lQd., total £532 8s Id. The expenditure for the same period amounted to £2OO 18s lOd, leaving a icredit balance at date of £331 9s 3d. On the motion of Mr Cameron, aooonded by Mr Fisher, accounts amounting to £156 19s 10d were passed for payment. Correspondence mis received in reference to certain accounts for maintenance at the hospital, and the secretary was instructed- as to the action to foe taken.v/n 'the motion of Mr O'Leary, seconded by Mr Miller, the action of the chairman in authorising the absence of the Matron from the hospital on the 24th ultimo was 'Confirmed. The Ho pital diary was placed upon the table, and the return of patients showed: In hospital at last meeting, 24; admitted, 18; discharged, 15; died, 3; in Hospital at date, 24. Mr Murray Jackson reported having visited the Hospital during the past month, and having, in. conjunction with Mr Keith, made arrangements for the planting in the Hospital grounds of some more deciduous tree. A -memo of transfer was received from the Department of Lands and Survey, and in an accompanying letter it was stated that the signature of the Board's solicitor was required .thereto.— The secretary was instructed to obtain the signature® asked for. The Medical Superintendent reported that an inquest had been held at the Hospital on Monday, 15tli cmst.— The Committee was unanimously of the opinion that it was neither necessary nor desirable that inquests should be held at the Hospital. Mr Keith was appointed visiting member for the month, and the / meeting -adjourned.
