THE TOWN HALL.

The voters of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust are not likely to sanction the proposal of Mr H. O. L. Robinson to hand oyer the control of itlhe Town Hall to the Borough Council. Whan the loan for the Hall was raised some fifteen years back, it was on the understanding that the building 'was, besides a work of utility, a dis-Cinctly . educational requirement. Few people can be found who will deny the ediUioational Value of the E..'l, and oven th»ing ,to be held to-night should confirm its utility in this direction. But, apart altogether from this aspect of the question, it is improper for .the Trustees to divest themselves entirely of any portion, of their property without reserving a quid pro quo. The Trust is a public institution-, and, if it. cannot isuocessfully manage a ismall portion of the estate, how can it be expected to make a success, of the whole? It would /be sufficient time' to offer a proposal such as that of Mr Robinson when the hands of the Trust are full with other matters, and when the Borough Cftuneil has shown a desire to acquire the institution and to pay a proper price for it. Until them, the project, should be dismissed.
