MONTHLY MEETING.
The monthly meeting of the Master,ton A. and P. Association was held on Saturday, there being present:— Messrs W. Perry (chairman), D. McGregor, A. G. Pilmer, W. Cooper, H. Morrison, R. J. Dagg, E. Harper, A. J. Percy, W. Buiek, J. Strang, J. M. James, J. P. Perry, R. Gray, B. Rayner, G. E. Allen, T. P. Lett. A. McLay, H. J. Dagg, H. A. Matthews. Q. Donald. J. F. Heckler. F. W. H. Kummer, T. T. Hillas and D. Casclberg. for absence were received from Mns ; rs W. J. Welch and C. F> Vallance. CORRESPONDENCE. , The secretary of the Haivke's Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Association forwarded the dates of his Association's Spring Show (18th and 19th October), and asked for the Masterton : dates to include in the list of Show dates in their programme.—Received. ,
A letter -was received from the Foilding Association, giving the dates of their Show, 6th and 7th February, and asking that the dates be inserted in the Masterton catalogue.—Received.
B. S. Jordan, secretary of the Northern A. and* P. Association, wrote asking particulars concerning the Masterton Association's new ground. The secretarv of the Ashburton Association asked for information concerning thn grandstand at the new show-grounds. The Rangitikoi A- and. P. Association, which has iust been formed, asked for a copy of the Masterton Association's rules.
The chairman said it was a very great compliment to the Association to receive such enouiries, but at the sn,me time care would have to be taken that too much work was not entailed in supplying the information.
The secretary was instructed to give "-bat information he had on hand, and the Associations requiring information to inspect the new showgrounds. H. A. Nivens wrote, pointing ont the advantages of holding a\ course in sheep-shearing instruction, and enclosing letter in support of his contention. —Th-> matter was heTd over for consideration until the next meeting. A letter was received from the secretary of the ( ,Mastorton . Technics] School'; asking the Association to appoint one of their enthusiastic members to s=it on -the Board of Manager?, in order to supply the managers with information concernine the inavsrvration of rural classes—Mr W. J. Welch was appointed to the • position.
Tbi instructor of the-wool-classes in the WaiiaraoA) wrote'a.-king the committee to support the classes, and do all in its power to point out the benefit of the classes. He suggested meeting the" with a. view to forming ircve classe?.—lt was considered'that the cls,*.S3F. 'already formed were sufficient, and it was decided to help Mr Lees by urging the benefit of the classes upon young farmers. TRANSFER OF LAND.
On the motion of the chairman it decided that the document re the transfer of land between the Association and Messrs,Judd Bros, bo executed forthwith. 'GROUND COMMITTEE. The reDcrt of the meeting of the Ground Committee, held in the morning, was Tead It was resolved that the five-arre paddock on the western side of tho railway line be ploughed twice, the first ploughing to be made as soon as posible. In connection with the tree-planting bee to be held at Rblway on Thursday next, Mr H. G. Williams, Dr. Archer Hosking, and the chairman were appointed to act as supervisors. FINANCE COMMITTEE. <A- report qf the; meeting of the Fin-''.a-noe committee was read as follows: —The monthly meeting of the Finance Committee was held on Saturday horning. The financial position of the Association was submitted as follows :—-Debit balance on April 11th, £5943.10s .jexpenditure for' the month, £63 6s; receipts £3O 9s 3d ; cheques outstanding £7O 9s sd; debit balance at date, £5905 18s 3d.- Accounts amounting to £97 lis 2d were passed for payment. The report was adopted.. RESIGNATIONS. . Messrs W". H. Shut© and G. A. tendered their resignations owing to leaving the district.—The resignations were accepted.
