Mr E. C. Isaac, the Government Technical Inspector, is at present engaged inspecting the work in manual and technical subjects at the Masterton District High School. A most enjoyable "kitchen tea" was, given by Mrs R. E. Jones, of Renall Street, Masterton, on Thursday afternoon, for Miss Elsie Smith, who is shortly to be married. A large number of guests were present, and a very pleasant afternoon was spent in music, song and story. Mrs Jones proved an admirable hostess. Mr R. McGarry, of Eketahuna, was on Tuesday admitted to the Masterton Hospital. Mrs McGarry, who is an inmate of the same institution, is making satisfactory progress towards recovery. Mr Thomas Reid, of Clareville, splintered a bone in one of his legs recently, and is now compelled to get about on c*atches. A quiet wedding was solemnised at St. Luke's Chuiydh, Greytown, on Wednesday afternoon, when Miss Sarah York, third daughter of Mr George York, of Papawai, was married to Mr Ernest Edwards, of Hamilton. The bride was prettily dressed in white, carrying .a bouquet. The bridesmaid was Miss Ruby Jury, and Mr William York was best man. Mr D. K. Logan, of Masterton, was elected a Vice-Pres'dent of the New Zealand Rugby Union at the annual meeting held in Wolington last night.
