THE RENMARK DISPUTE.

COMPULSORY ARBITRATION

(Re-oedved Last Night; 11.35 o'clock.)

SYDNEY, May 10

The Hon. Mr Verran, Premier of South. Australia, who is visiting Sydney, in an interview in regard to tlfae /Renmark labour troubles, siaiid it was the policy of his Government to go straight for compulsory arbitration. He had no sympathy with Unions which professed revolutionary tactics. The Government intended introducing a Ctompulisory Aifaitraitiion Bill, the principal provision in which wouldi be to make every union and every Association of employees register under the new law at once. Parliamnt must say that all industrial disputes must be decided by law. The striker would then be treated in the same way as any other law-breaker. The Government did not fear legitimate Unionism. The leaders of the Renmark dispute, however, were men with revolutionary intentions, and, made no secret.of their opposition to the labour cause.
