CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH.
HALF-YEARLY RALLY. The half-yearly rally of the members of the Masterton Congregational Church, was held last evening. The meeting was, in 'spite of the rain, very well attended. The chair was occupied by the Rev. A. Hodge. Special anthems were (rendered toy a full choir tinder the conductorship of Mr dough. Mr J. Hunter, -treasurer, congratulated the memlbers upon the financial position of'the *m!nurch. During the period the gross "income was £220 Is I'd, and the expenditure £205 18s sd, ileaving a. net credit on all the accounts of £l4 ss. ,Mr Shoesmith, Superintendent, spoke a few .words on belia/ltf of the. ■ Sunday School, which he stated was doing excellent work, and was in a very sound financial position. The Rev. W. A. Evans, chairman of the Wellington District Committee, delivered an inspiring and helpful address on the "Spiritual Idea of the Christian Church." Mr F. T. Redman, in a felicitous • speech, proposed a vote of thanks to , the Rev. Mr Evans, which was cair#ied 'by .acclamation. Refreshments were provided by the ladies of the Church.
