A MAURICEVILLE RESERVE.
WANTED FOR SPORTS PURPOSES. Messrs Petersen and Nielsen, of Mauriceville . West, waited upon Mr A. W. Hogg, M.P., in Masterton yesterday, with- a .petition signed by fifty residents, asking that a few acres of the Education Reserve, where "tihe school is situated, should be set aside as a recreation reserve for <ttoe benefit of the district. They repnesented that a* the time when the isetMement was laid out, such tilings as recreation reserves andsports' grounds were never thought of. Now, in a closely country, they hadi become a public necessity. The people of Mauriceville had no sports * grounds that they could call their own. If the land asked for, -which was bounded by a creak, had. a good road frontage, and was well situated, was placed in their hands, they 'would take steps at once to provide funds and beautify it. Mr Hogg, in, reply, said he would send on the memorial to the Minister. Personally he recognised the desirableness of setting apart lands for the recreation of Hie people. He was satisfied the Commissioner and members of the Land Board would place no difficulty in the way. He trusted the reserve would be provided for them without any unnecessary delay.
