MELBOURNE, May 8

The Commonwealth Year Book shows that for every hundred females in Australia there are 311.46 males. The population averages 1.50 for every square mile. The average natural increase for the year was 15.31, and the birth-rate. 26.4 per 1000 of population. The marriage rate was 7.82, and the death rate 10.2. .
