BIG LOAN EXPENDITURE. (Received Last Night, 9.35 o'clock.) MELBOURNE, May 8. The Official Year Book, just issued, shows that the trade of the Commonwealth with the United Kingdom for the past year was valued at £30,917. The expenditure represented £1 14s 3d per head of population. The aggregate loan expenditure of the Commonwealth to date is £250.000,000. Of this amount, '£152,000,000 has been spent on railways. ' :
