(From Our Own Correspondents.* MAURICEVILLE WEST. The young grass is coming splendidly on the ground recently swept by lire. If the frosts only hold off the charred appearance .will give way to the green of new grass. Miss Thompson and Mrs Forsberg returned last Thursday from a holiday trip to Auckland. Two slight frosts, the first of the. season, put in their unwelcome appearance last week. The milk supply is rapidly decreasing at the local factory. About 35 boxes of butter is being turned out weekly. Skimming will very soon be di>;.e on alternate days. A ir.rge rata tree, from which the iv: s spread about six weeks ago, is sci; a red, glowing mass. Being situated at the top of a high limestone b' 1 !, it can be seen a great distance off.

Co= and the Misses Coe, who are leaving Pongaroa after sixteen years' residence, for the Auckland district. a son-in-law, he should naturally have nothing eulogistic to say about his mother-in-law. But in this oas? it did .not follow. He conveyed Mrs Ooe's thanks, and a hearty invitation to all. to visit Mr and Mrs,Coe at their new home. Miss Kelly then presented Misses Ivy and Dolly Coe ■ with bangles,from- tihe -girla of Ponga,roa, and spoke of how they would | be missed 'by their chums.
