1' WHAT IS THE REASOS*? At the meeting of the Masterton ; branch of the Farmers' Union on Saturday, Mr A. J. Percy introduced; the question of the deduction of lib on each, ■carcase of mutton-made in the Old Country. He would like to know what the deduction was made for. He could not understand it. Mr J. C. Cooppr stated that it was a tare similar to that made on wool. Mr Falconer did not think they could Ho much in the matter. It was an old custom; and if it -was discontinued they would only got so much the less for their stock. * Mr Morrison,thought some explan- _' ation of the matter should lie given. The chairman suggested that the question should be discussed at the nextjneeting. This course was agreed to.
