THE FARMERS' UNION.
I There was a pleasing sign of animation about the meeting of the Masterton branch of the Farmers' Union on Saturday. In the course of a promiscuous discussion, it was discovered that there were quite a number of questions affecting the rural community which required attention. Although there were only fifteen farmers present, the need for combination and concerted action in matters pertaining to'the farm was strongly emphasized, and the hope was confidently expressed that the branch would be galvanised into activity. , The decision to hold monthly meetings of the Committee and quarterly meetings of the members was in itself an indication of a renewed vitality which Avas gratifying t» observe. I The farming coVnmunity is living in a sort of "Fool's Paradise" just row. Other forces are combining to exploit it, and unless it is on the alert it will find: it":'! ; a minus quantity so far as the political aspect is concorned.
