LATE COMMERCIAL.

EKETAHUNA STOCK SALE. The New Zealand Loan aad Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report on their sale held yesterday:—We submitted a small yarding of both sheep and cattle. Sheep sold somewhat' better, hut cattle, however, were slow of sale. We quote: S.ra. ewes, 6s 7d; forward ewes, lis 6d; woolly lambs, 6s to Os 9d; store cows, £2 5s to £3 17s 6d; fat cows, £4 to £4 12s; weaner calves, £l3s.

Messes Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report on their weekly sale held at Eketahuna yesterday as follows:—We had only a medium entry, but made a total clearance. Sheep of all classes sold at prices in advance of late rates. We quote: 2-tooth wethers, 10s 6d to 12s; ewes in lamb (mixed ages) 8s 3d to lis 7d; mixed lambs, 3s 9ti, 5s 6d - u <> 7s 9d. Cattle: 20-uios empty heifers, £2 15s; empty cows, £2, £-o>u, to £4 fas.

Messrs Abraham and Williams, re- i port as follows regarding tbei* Eke- j tahuna sale, held yesterday:— We offered the bulk of the yarding in both sheep and cattle-. There was a marked improvement in the demand for all classes of stock; the bidding for sheep being unusually animated. We quitted all but one small line of young ewes with a high reserve, at prices in advance off those realised l for soma itime past. Cattle found keen competition, and mostly the whole of our yarding sold freely at auction, only two beasts failing. to change hands at the end of the day's operations. The following; prices were obtained:— Fair ewes in lamb, 9s, to 10s; wethers, 10s 7d to 12s 3d; poor ewes, 3s 3d to 6s; lambs 4s 2d to 7s. Cattle.—Two-and-a-half year steers;, £4 2s 6d to £4 14s, 6d; spring calving heifers, £3 15s to £4 10s; forward cows, £3 15s to £4 2s 6d; old store cows up to £3; 18-month steers, £3 3s; ibucketreared weaners, 24s to 355.
