THE CENSUS RETURNS.
POPULATION\ OF WAIRARAPA. The.complete census returns show tha population of the Wairarapa district, south of Eketahuna, to be 20,044. TTiis includes the Oastl" point,, Mauriceville, Masterto.a Wa l '- rarapa South and Featherston Counties, together with the various Boroughs. The checked figures show the population of Mastertoii Borough to foe 5189, Carterton 1547/ and Greytown- 1042. Of the total population, 10,789 are males and 9,255 females. There are 4228 inhabited houses in the district, and 251 uninhabited.
