THE WAIRARAPA SEAT.
The member for Wairarapa—Mr W. j C. Buchanan—' will commence his\ political campaign m Carterton on Friday next. The early commencement of the fight would indicate that both parties are eager for the fray. The "old horse," as Mr Buchanan hae been somewhat irreverently termed, has a wonderful lot of vitality left in him. He is possibly the most übiquitous man in the House of Representatives. The work he has done in his constituency during the last three years would put many a younger man to shame. And yet, if reports be correct, his position is to be stubboi-nly contested by a sup- i porter of a Government which; 1 is j . tening for a fall, and - whick __ has no' j claim- to the title of either "Liberal"-', or "Labour." ■ tjj'-'is # striking commentary lipon colonial politics that men and women can be found by the hundreds who will sell their political birthright far a mess of rhe- I toxical pottage.
