MASTERTON CHESS & DRAUGHTS CLUB.

COMMENCING THE SEASON. The Masterton Chess and; Draughts Club has commenced tin ceason's matches with Saddei-" games, and on Wednesday evening next matches will be commenced for the possession of the Age trophy. The names on the "ladder" have been reversed, the winner of the top rung last season being placed at the foot, the bottom rang man taking the top position,- and so on. .' By ' this ■means" members will be given full onportutjity of playing a full number of games. .The visit to Wellington will take place at the end of the month, dates to be decided- on in a- few days. It was expected that school holidays may be altered to coincide with thi? Coronation oalebrationr, on 22nd June, but it is more than likely that a one-day's holiday only will be observed in June, and the Masterton men will leave on Tuesday 30th dnst. Matches will be played against Wellington, Working Men's Club, South Wellington, and Kilbirnie Clubs. Mr T. J. Thompson or Mr Syverston. will be glad: to receive names of Wairarapa players who are willing to accompany the Masterton Club's team, which wall number 12 or 14 men. A draughts tourney will be commenced at an early date for a trophy donated by one of the members. Entries are now being invited.
