ANOTHER THEFT.

FROM MR HAMiLL'S PREMISES.

A LAD ARRESTED. It was reported to the- police in Masterton yesterday morning that the premises of Mr P. Hamill had again been entered on the previous night, and a couple of rugs stolen. It is reported that one or; two 'safes' Jiave been depleted of their contents during the last • night or two:;. ' ;...„/' '*:■■.■■■ • About 9.15' o'clock last' night, Constable Dumphy," who. was" on street duty, espied a lad coming out of a right-of-way by Yong Kee's premises. He called after him, but the lad made no reply, and walked across the street. The Constable followed him, and found that he was James Harris, who bad been suspected of the thefts. The boy, who was dressed in a new suit of clothes, and was wearing, a long overcoat, .was placed under arrest and conveyed to the lock-up. , After the arrest, the boy, accompanied by Constable Dumphy and Mr Hamill, proceeded to a shed on the Homebush road, where, in a loft, was found a large assortment of stolen goods, including a bicycle, rugs, Portmanteaux, overcoats,, confectionery, cutlery, fancy goods, clothing, ilneroery, boots, etc. Most of these were identified by Mr Hamill as his property. The lad will be charged this morning with breaking and entering, and with iheft, and wiM probably be remanded
