ENDOWMENT FIRE INSURANCE.
Can any actuary or public man advance a logical reason why the endowment principle should not be applied to fire insurance as it is applied to life? Why should not a man be able to insure Tiis house so that, at the end of, say, thirty years, he could draw a sum sufficient to enable him to re-build? Does it ever occur to the State and to Insurance Companies that the present system, which takes all and gives nothing excepting in case of accident, offers a premium to incendiarism? The idea of an endowment system of fire insurance is deserving of thoughtful consideration.
