POISONING OF STOCK.
AN INTERESTING POINT. I The Kaiparoro correspondent of the Wairarapa Age writes:— Cases of tutu poisoning amongst cattle have occurred here lately, and in connection with this an experienced fanner avers that he has seen -cattle eat itutu, and suffer no ill effects from whilst others he had observed eating ct very shortly developed symptoms of poisoning. The question has been raised as to whether tutu -acts injuriously on some animals, and does not Injur ion sly affect others, or whether cattle which eat the plant •for the first time are poisoned, and if they recover from the ill effects •■are afterwards proof against the poison contained in the weed. It would also be interesting to know why sheep and horses, which are used to grazing in pastures coataining Strathmore weed or Pimelea (a which does not grow in this district) ai>e seldom or never pois- . nmed by the weed, whilst animals which, are not used to it, seem to beat once attracted by it, and shortly after eating •it show strong symptoms of poisoning.
