SOCIAL AT BIDEFORD.
(Our Own Correspondent.) The first of the season's sociils and dances was held in the Bideford Hall on Thursday night, and turned out a most enjoyable affair. The hall 'was tastefully decorated; with evergreens and flowers. Although the wet state of the weather kept many from attending, the promoters are to be congratulated on the success of the gathering. The, floor, was in capital order, and excellent - musio (piano) kindly supplied by Mrs Cameron, made the time seem all too short. Several items were rendered during the evening, the following ladies contributing songs:— Mesdameß Canning and Stoddart. Mr George Laing danced the Schaeuntruse in his usual fine style, and Mr H. Laihg was seen to advantage in a character song. At the conclusion of the dance the musician, and those who had contributed,, were heartily cheered.
