LOWER VALLEY JOCKEY CLUB. A meeting of the stewards of the Lower Valley Jockey Club was held on Saturday afternoon, Messrs A. D. McLeod, (in the chair), H. Mackay, 0. Benton, J. Orr, J. Jackson, J. I Martin, C. Brewer, R. Clephane, J. McDougall, and R. Flynn being present. Correspondence was received from : ! The Secretary of the Wellington Racing Conference, intimating that applications for dates of meetings must be sent April 29th. Same, re starting horses without the accident fee being paid, and advising that the penalty for same would be enforced. The matter of recommending to the Metropolitan Club that certain horses be placed on the forfeit list, was left in the hands of the chairman. Intimation was received that the person leasing the course would relinquish same at the end of his term. The chairman stated that notwithstanding the impression that some had to the. contrary, he had good reai son to believe that the Club would i continue to exist. [ It was resolved, on the motion of the chairman, that the Club apply for Dominion Day and the day following, as the dates of the next meeting. The chairman said he.would be in Wellington when the commission met, and as soon as he had ascertained the decision re dates, he would call a meeting of stewards. The matter of. outstanding members' subscriptions was • held over till next meeting. The secretary was • instructed .to convey the thanks of the Club to Mr J. Chesham, for timber supplied by him.
