FROZEN MEAT TRADE.

A SERIOUS DECLINE. The following extracts from reports of meat companies in London are published in the "Pastoralists' Review," of April 13th:— The British New Zealand Meat and Produce Company, Limited, of .New Zealand:—"There has been a heavy decline in prices all round, especially in lamb values. The stock of Australian lambs is very heavy, and holders have felt the competing influence of light-weight, inferior quality lambs arriving from New Zealand. Canterbury sheep have been very scarce, and have easily maintained high prices, but all other classes of Nqw Zealand mutton have declined in value. Stocks of beef are low, but chilled beef has been too cheap to permit this fact to affect prices." C. C. and D. Company, Limited: —' 'The "demand for New Zealand lamb is most disappointing, and has not been stimulated by the lower prices accepted. The extreme value of Canterbury is s|d per lb, and,the medium weights, are worth more than lighter carcases. North Islands are quoted 4|d to sfd per lb, but the majority realise nearer the lower figure. Australian' lambs go begging. Plain and inferior quality carcases can be bought at 3£d per lb, and the best quality sell very slowly at prices up to 4Jd per lb."
