MURRAY'S SURPRISE SALE.
Mr J. L. Murray's Surprise Sale opened on Saturday last, -and the firm report a record sale. A remarkable feature of the event was the announcement that a free gift of a new cap would be given to every boy, and girl, too, that choose to call at the shop. 'lhe result was, as might be expected, that Mr Murray was rushed by applicants from Masterton and all over the district, no less than 250 good linen well-made caps being given away during the day. The illustrated inset that was circulated with the Wdrarapa Age on Saturday morning proved very effective. The enterprising firm announced a "commencement of the season" sale instead of the usual "end of season" sale, with a reduction in price's of 10 to 50 per cent. The result was all that 'cauldi be anticipated, a rush of customers all day right up to closing time. The sale will be continued through the current week.
