SYDNEY, April 20
Profcss-.r Anderson Stunrt, .uldressing a No-Liceuso conference on the medical aspect of the temperance question, condemned the shouting habit. He gave this advice: —If you meet a man in the street who asks you to come and have a drink, knock him down! Hit his head! Don't let him up till he signs the pledge. "Feopte put down their misfortunes to bad whisky. Their misfortunes are too frequently clue to a bad man and not bad whisky!" Alcohol, continued the professor, was rarely adulterated in a deleterious way. The commonest adulterant was water —"and the more of that the better!" The Lord Mayor advised the No-Li-cense party .to advocate a substantial decrease in the number of licenses raI ther than attempt to wipe out all the licenses at once.
