MASTERTON'S POPULATION.

A SUBSTANTIAL INCREASE.

ESTIMATED AT 7000. The census recently taken in Masfterton shows the. population of the Borough, for the last two quinquennial periods to be as follows: — Last Census 5026 Present Census 5136 Increase 110 The above census does not take in •either Lansdowue, Upper Plain, or Lower OVlanaia and Homebush. The Opaki Riding of the Masterton County shows a population of 1913. Of this number it is estimated that 1500 reside at Lansdowne, Upper Plain and Opaki, within a radius of two miles of the town. Add to these the population of Lower Ma-naia and other portions of the Te Whiti Riding, and the population of greater Masterton is'approximately 7000.
