ELECTION NEWS.
| TIMARU, I ast Night. Nominations closed to-day for the three Borough elections. For the Mayoralty, .Mr J. Craigie, M.P., who has been Mayor for the last nine years, and Councillor Beck, a retired farmer, are candidates. For th? twelve seats on the Council, there are twenty-five nominations, and three present Councillors will stand out. For the High School Board there are four nominations for three seats. For Waimate Mr Norton Francis has been re-elected Mayor unopposed. There are sixteen candidates for nine seats on the Council. For Temuka, Mr J. T. M. Hayhurst (a former Mayor) will be opposed by Mr T. Buxton, M.P., at .present Mayor. At Timaru and Waimate the Labour Party will make a bid for a share of representation, six candidates in each case accepting tickets.
