LONDON, April 15. A body of Wackliffe preachers, headed by Joh.i Kensit, disturbed the celebration of the Veneration of the Cross in Holy Trinity Church at Hoxton. Mr Kensit, "approaching the chancel, shouted, 'This idolatry in the Church of England must cease!" The choristers barred the way with a wooden cross.
Loud words arad a scuffle ensued. A clergyman, in endeavouring to secure the cross, was carried off his feet and fell. The cross was snatched from its socket and broken in the struggle. The police were summoned, but the Wickliffe preachers left voluntarily. Mr Kensit telegraphed to the Bishop of London, reminding him of his undertaking that tho Adoration of the Cruicifix would not be allowed.
